How did you use media forms to come up with something new and original?
The software Adobe Premier Elements 10 which was used to edit our film helped us create an original film as there are so many features that can be included to make the film seem different from any other horror film. We used different transitions such as the fade to black as this is used in most horror films. Also there were many tools included in the software such as scissors which is used to cut parts of the film out which you don't want. There was another tool which allowed you to enter text such as titles and names of the cast/production team.
Where did ideas come from?
The first idea we came up with was the genre which was horror which is what we are all interested in. We also looked at successful horror movies like The Shining and wrote down the key parts which we thought may be included in our film. In order to find the best location for our film we decided to research the best settings for a horror film. We decided the best location would be a house as this is a popular setting. In order to keep track of our research we made a MOOD board which had all of the settings we found just in case we needed a back up.
How did you work collaboratively to share ideas?
When we were coming up with ideas for our film we individually came up with ideas and then came together and wrote down our ideas so that we each had a say in what was going to be in the film and create a story line.
How did you change things?
Some of our ideas changed last minute as they didn't make sense or match up. We originally had more than two characters but had to change this as we were unable to get people for the roles. This also meant that the story line had to changed around as the friends weren't involved. The film was going to be set in the woods but we changed this to a house as this is much more effective on the audience.
How did you use tools like Adobe Premier Elements etc to achieve something imaginative?
When editing our film on Adobe the snipping tool was used to crop parts of the footage that we didn't need and was also used to merge clips together. The smear effect was used on our titles at the beginning so that the audience knew it was a horror film.
