Chucky is a well known film series which involves a doll who is a serial killer who's spirit is in a good guy doll.
The trailer begins with a long shot of the city and calming music is playing in the background (non-diegetic) This cuts to a man talking to someone and says " I was six when my babysitter was murdered". This makes the audience think back to the previous Chucky films or fans of the series will remember this characters story. The calming music stops afterwards as it shows a flashback of the babysitter falling from a tall story building. It cuts back to the man and woman having a conversation by using the two shot to show both sides of the conversation. The woman says "and they never caught him?". The man replies "justice was done". This is then followed by the voice of the Chucky doll saying "wanna play?". The audience will know that this is one of the lines spoken by Chucky especially at his victims. During this a close up is shown of the same man from the start holding a blow torch . This tells the audience that he killed Chucky by using that. Afterwards the production company is shown in black and white which gives an effect as its a horror film.
The next part of the trailer begins with a long shot of what seems to be a psychiatric hospital. A man is talking to one of the patients he says "the murders were real". When the woman replies a close up is used to show she understands but at the same time is confused " Chucky never was". The camera cuts back to the man "that's right he was a fantasy". When he says that a one second shot is shown of Chucky with an evil looks on his face. The next scene begins with the same woman admitting that she was very ill and that she needed help. The camera then cuts to a another woman who is also a patient at the hospital who says "Chucky told me, he's coming for you". While she is talking a close up shot is shown of Chuckies feet walking quickly. This makes the audience wonder if Chucky is in the hospital. After she says this the woman from the start looks confused which is shown by a close up. Following on from this the man from the beginning brings out of the chucky dolls. The audience knows this is a bad idea as from previous films everyone thought the murders only came from the one doll and that by the man bringing the doll into the hospital for people who mentally ill because of the doll. close up is shown of the doll where he says "hi I'm Chucky". This causes the woman from the start to turn around and looks terrified as she never thought she would see or hear him again.
The next part of the trailer starts with Chucky being kept in a room separate from the patients. One of the patients says "first he'll kill each and every one of you in some of the most horrible ways you can imagine" (diegetic). A close up is then shown of a drawer which has scissors and other sharp objects being opened by Chuckies hand. The next scene shows one of the nurses closing the door of one the patients room who we haven't met yet. A medium/ long shot is shown of Chucky walking towards her as she says "come to mommy". This shows to the audience of how much Chucky has caused pain and trauma to each and every one of the patients especially the one who thinks Chucky is her son. The doctor from the start asks Domani "are you afraid of the truth?". This is just before he gives her an injection which cuts to a close up of her eye then straight to what she sees which is Chucky standing over her holding a sharp object. This cuts to a range of close still images of the patient from earlier who is dead by her arms being slit down the middle. A pool of blood is shown after which has written in it "Chucky did it. This then cuts to a close up of Chuckies face saying "night night". Straight after this Another close up is shown of Chucky holding a drill and as he brings it closer you hear a high pitch scream. Afterwards a medium shot of Chucky is shown saying "and they call me sick". The next scene one of the patients is holding the real Chucky and another one is sitting next to her. One of the doctors notices this and says "there's two of them". From this the audience knows the one the woman is holding is the real Chucky as earlier on in the trailer she thought he was her son.. The final part of the trailer is a range of short snips from scenes and ends with a woman's high pitched scream.
